About Telephone Exchange Lofts

Built in 1907, the Telephone Exchange Lofts facilitated communication for the general populus of Portland up until the common household use of the rotary-dialed telephone. The building had hundreds of telephone operators along with an enormous amount of connection equipment. Now converted into extraordinary living spaces, it’s your chance to experience a bit of Portland’s history! This four-story multi-family building is comprised of nine unique apartments: four studios and five one-bedrooms; some of which also have the option to be used as Live/Work spaces.1011 N Killingsworth has a stately exterior with a crème, charcoal, and rust color scheme, welcoming arched brick work, and iconography that honors the building’s original use. No two apartments are identical, though all are extremely chic. Most have extra-tall ceilings with large windows that let in abundant natural light, mixed finishes ranging from original hardwoods to polished concrete or stylish linoleum and exposed brick, timber beams, or upscale tile work. Many apartments feature upgraded kitchens with stainless steel appliances including dishwashers as well as washers and dryers. Several of the homes also have lofted living spaces and unique architectural features. The Telephone Exchange Lofts have additional onsite laundry facilities, bicycle storage, and a gated parking lot.

Ideally situated on N Killingsworth street in the thriving Humboldt neighborhood, you can have the best of both worlds: a hip urban area that is also extremely convenient. Residents have easy access to assorted coffee houses, tasty restaurants, and unique shops!  Try Coffee-House Five or the Bad Habit Room (just across the street) for coffee or brunch or dive into locals’ favorite bars The Florida Room or Saravana. Tasty options like Sweedeedee, Victoria, and Enat Kitchen are just a few minutes away. Portland Community College is just up the street, as is Solabee Flowers and the Multnomah County Library. You’ll also be close to New Seasons and Natural Grocers. Combine this with being moments away from Woodlawn, Overlook, Arbor Lodge, the Alberta Arts District and Mississippi Street-you’ll be the envy of most locals!
